Logitech Driving Force GT Steering Wheel Review, Driver, Manual and Software – Playing games will be far more exciting when we have enhancements that add to the realism of the game. Especially in Racing genre games, gamepad controllers generally can’t beat the feel and immersion of Steering Wheel controllers. Unfortunately, not all connoisseurs of racing games have deep enough to buy a Steering Wheel controller. Responding to this problem, Logitech came up with a steering wheel solution at a reasonably affordable price, which they called the Logitech Driving Force GT.
Features
In addition to packaging standard, steering wheel features such as Force Feedback, Logitech Driving Force GT (abbreviated as DFGT) offers several additional features, call it 900-Degree Wheel rotation. It allows the wheel to rotate 2.5 (two and a half) times lock-to-lock, gives almost the same feel like the steering wheel of a real car. There is also a Real-time Adjustment Dial (abbreviated as RA Dial), which allows us to make settings for several car variables in real-time in games that support it. These variables are Traction Control, Bias Brake, ABS, etc. Logitech DFGT is packed with Gas and Brake pedals, and a Sequential Stick shifter, in contrast to upper-class steering wheels such as the Logitech G27, which has a Gas / Brake / Clutch Pedal and Six-speed shifter.

Installation + Testing Method
Installing the Logitech Driving Force GT isn’t too complicated, you need to:
1) Connect the Power Adapter to the steering wheel
2) Connect the Gas / Brake Pedal Connector to the steering wheel
3) Install the Steering Wheel Section to the table/surface you choose with the clamp provided (as shown below):
4) And finally, connect the USB connector on Logitech DFGT to your PS3 device or PC.
Note: For those of you PC users, you still have to install the available drivers first.
As soon as the connector is attached to the PS3 / PC device (which has undergone driver installation), Logitech Driving Force GT (DFGT) will automatically rotate from left to right to calibrate the X-axis limit and get the right center position.
In this test, we use the Logitech Driving Force GT to run our favorite racing game, the Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3 and Dirt 3 on PC
Game Test 1: Gran Turismo 5 (Playstation 3)
From the start, the Gran Turismo 5 Game immediately recognized our Logitech DFGT steering wheel, and it was able to function quickly without the need for additional mapping controllers. For the first test scenario, we play the License Test mode. And it turns out we immediately realized that our record time with the Logitech Driving Force GT was far worse than when we used the gamepad. With this, we know that the use of a steering wheel controller requires a long adaptation time. After using this steering wheel for about a week, the record time that we got on the license test began to improve, and we also managed to get a Gold Cup on all the test licenses that we lived, as we could before with the gamepad.
Our final test in this game involved the fastest car on the GT5, the Redbull X1. With this car, we immediately felt a higher level of force-feedback than the other vehicles we tried. Even to go straight, we had to try to keep the steering wheel so it wouldn’t shake. We then go to the Options section and change some of the settings there to make this Redbull X1 more “humane.” By setting the Force Feedback level to number 1, and turning on the power-assisted steering option, we can control the Redbull X1 better.
The point
Beyond our expectations, the Logitech Driving Force GT was able to produce attractive results, at an attractive price point (when this article was published: 150s USD). When we first saw the appearance of DFGT, we were a little worried that this wheel would feel ‘plasticky’ and leave the impression ‘cheap,’ apparently not at all! This steering wheel feels robust enough, so does the accompanying gas/brake pedal. The rubber coating on the DFGT steering wheel also allows for a firm grip, only if we use this wheel with an oily hand, it feels a bit ‘sticky’ and uncomfortable. One more thing in DFGT, which is a bit annoying to our game, is the shape of the paddle-shift button, which is rather small and its position, which sometimes makes it difficult for us to reach it when the steering wheel is turning.
Beyond the small obstacles we found, we felt that the DFGT steering wheel provided a pleasant playing feel. Besides feeling more real, the use of the wheel to control the steering angle with more precision in various racing games can make our time record better. Logitech DFGT, in this case, also gives a reasonably accurate control, both of the wheel and pedal. And with all the advantages it has, the steering wheel is offered at a price that we think is quite affordable.
