Logitech G100s Gaming Mouse Review, Driver, Manual and Software – The G100 is a very basic mouse. That is an ambidextrous, perfectly symmetrical design along the vertical axis (when viewed in plan view). All of them have four buttons: Left-click, right-click; middle-click (scroll wheel); and the DPI adjustment button just behind the scroll wheel. There are no single thumb buttons on either side of the mouse.
Design
It’s also a relatively small mouse, low profile, and not too long or full. Small allied size with a lightweight may prevent palm-style grip, especially if you have larger hands. Mine is not a baseball glove, but my initial impression of having a mouse in my hand is that the claw style or fingertip grip might work better.
Smooth textured mouse skin. It’s a bit slippery despite its texture, but you never really feel like it will fly out of your hand even if you only use your fingertip grip. I will talk more about this particular aspect of the mouse later in the review.
Perhaps the only thing that doesn’t quite fit the raison d’etre “barebones” of the G100 is the graphic style on the top. The horizontal gray grill that adorns most of its dorsal surface is rather striking despite the diminished color choices and, in the eyes of this reviewer, not very handsome. I like branding G near the back of the mouse. It’s a simple logo, well designed, and the perfect size.
The last thing we will see in detail is the USB connector. Following the essential nature of this hardware, there is nothing remarkable about the connector. Cables, however, are rather famous because they are not braided. It’s flexible and flexible, but I wonder how tough it is against damage, especially from time to time.
Performance
I used the G100 for the best part last week, even bringing it to my work and using it for several days. The strongest impression made to me was that, despite its relatively small size, it never felt uncomfortable to use. I had to adapt to it and use the fingertip style grip on it, but it did not cause unpleasant fatigue.
It is an amazing and precise track. It is useful in-game and non-game scenarios. Whether you use it in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, SimCity Deluxe, Excel, or in everyday web browsing, accuracy and predictability are the attributes you want in your mouse. The button feels good, crispy. Not too stiff or too soft. The scroll wheel action also has a similar impression of high quality. Whether you roll it or click on it, it never feels cheap and chintzy.
The G100 glides across most surfaces. Whether it’s on a soft mousepad or a wooden table, you can move it quickly. The only surface where the level of friction looks higher is, oddly enough, the plain Bristol board. Even then, the G100 seems to glide when you move it with your fingertips to guide it.
It’s hard to say much about LGS because this applies to this particular mouse. The G100 is the most common mouse I have come across, so the extent to which you can play with limited software. Because of this, the GUI is fantastic. Its design and implementation are easy to use and intuitive much more comfortable than the old SetPoint Logitech software (I have used the classic G9X and MX518, which was the first mouse I bought back in 2006).
The Point
As good and reliable and unpretentious as the G100 is not entirely perfect. I have a few flea eggs to choose from. First, I hope the surface is stiffer than before. With your mouse hand contact patch reduced to only four points with the fingertip grip, I want to feel a safer and slightly sticky surface, especially on the sides of the mouse. This is a small complaint, but it’s the same I would still like it if Logitech ever asked me how to improve the G100.
My next little complaint is a little more personal: I don’t like the image on the mouse. I understand that you need to make your product stand out, but the graphics make the G100 look like some giant bug on your desk. Graphics may have the opposite effect as intended: Customers who want their hardware to look good might be rejected as if they were sprayed with a Raid or something.
My last complaint relates to thin cables. As I discussed earlier in the review, it is lightweight and loses the braided cover. It’s old school, of course, but I hope the cable is woven if only to dispel my fear of long-term reliability and damage resistance.
The Bad
- 2500 DPi may be low for some users
- Double the price and you can get all of the same excellence on a much more functional mouse

- Excellent tracking and movement
- Superb ambidextrous design that is very comfortable
- Hydrophobic coating keeps it dry, even under sweaty palms
- Simply the best mouse at this price point. By a longshot.
