Noise

Logitech G29 Software Manual and Review  –  In all the videos I’ve watched, and in many forums and reviews, people mention the sound produced by the wheel. Unfortunately, the sound of tooth grinding is quite familiar, especially if you raise the level of TBS.

When I’m racing, I tend to wear headphones, so the sound produced by the wheels doesn’t bother me at all. However, when I use my speakers, the wheels become very visible, but even, so I don’t have a problem with noise. When driving, I usually concentrate on the game, and I don’t see noise.

If you want to reduce noise, you can always reject TBS settings, which will make the wheels quieter but will also make feedback weaker. For some gamer, this is fine, but I enjoy having enough input so that there is some input needed to turn the wheel.

TBS in various games

It is something I didn’t expect. I mostly think that the wheel will behave similarly to all games. That is not a problem at all.

Each game will implement its own TBS, and I must say it can be disappointing. Right now, the games that I play are Project Cars 1 and 2, and The Crew 2.

Before we get into every game, I need to mention that if you want to use the G29 for drifting, it can be disappointing. The wheels spin to help you catch the car, but don’t turn fast enough. That means that you sometimes have to help. You are familiar with it.

Car Project

The Car project is one of the games that I enjoy. In terms of TBS, I feel that Project Cars 1 and 2 are feasible. With Project Cars 1, I don’t like the fact that to get TBS to taste good. I have to manually go and fiddle around with the settings to find out what I want. But with Project Cars 2, it’s a different story. There are some simple settings previously selected that can be chosen, and then you can adjust those settings.

Crew 2

There’s not much to say about The Crew 2. I enjoy playing, but TBS doesn’t exist. That makes the wheel require you to exert power to spin, but there is almost no feedback to be had. I have experimented with the settings, and you can make it more accurate in the game, but there is still little or no feedback.

From what I learned, If you only pursue TBS, then you have to choose the game wisely, and I would say that you have to stick to the sim racer. That being said, if you go for wheels, that’s most likely what you will do, but I would also tell you don’t discount games like The Crew 2. They might not give feedback, but using wheels is still a significant improvement over the controller in terms of being able to more consistent when you drive.

Pedal

There isn’t much I can say about the pedals, besides I think it’s excellent. There are three pedals, one for the accelerator, brake, and clutch.

The pedal feels good, and each pedal has a different feel compared to other great pedals. If there is something I’m not too happy about, it is the brake pedal. Logitech decides to put a small rubber block on the pedal so you will have some resistance when pushing the pedal. I hope that they block a little softer so the pedals can travel a bit more. Another problem with blocks is that the pedals easily push, and then suddenly, you press down on the rubber block, and it stiffens massively. After a while, you will get used to it, but it is something that I want to update in the future.

The Cables

Its something I didn’t expect. The wheels are equipped with four cables. One for USB to be connected to your computer or PS4. One to connect the pedals to the wheels, one to join the shifter to the wheels, and then the power cable. (If you don’t get a shifter then at least you can get rid of the cable)

Build quality

It is one of the things that many people talk about online. From what I experienced, the build quality is excellent. It might feel plasticky in terms of wheelbase and pedal base, but overall I think it’s great.
The pedal is made of good metal, and this is better than the stock pedal that you get with the Thrustmaster T300 standard. Overall, the pedal feels excellent to me.

The Bad

• Some won’t like bright-coloured buttons
