Logitech G303 Shroud Edition Review

Logitech G303 Shroud Edition Driver and Software  –  The Logitech G303 Shroud Edition is a redesigned Logitech G303 mouse in partnership between Logitech and Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, popular streamer and also former pro Counter-Strike player. That makes this mouse very unique, and the results are rather specific. Suitable for wider hands, this rechargeable wireless mouse is powered by Logitech’s powerful Hero 25K sensor, but it’s its unique design that will probably be the deciding factor whether you really enjoy it or not.

Design

At first glance, the G303 Shroud mouse looks attractive, sleek and looks mature. It’s not particularly flashy — no RGB lighting or anything like that (although there’s a battery LED indicator right above the scroll wheel). However, it’s a nice looking mouse with the Logitech G logo on the bottom, right and left click buttons, scroll wheel, buttons below the scroll wheel, and two shortcut keys on the left side.

The sides are also made of transparent plastic. It’s arguably more of an aesthetics issue than a quality issue, but I can’t ignore how there are visible screws on the underside of the mouse, which to me just feels lazy on a mouse at this price point, especially considering there’s plenty of opportunity to hide screws without affecting performance. or access to internals. You’ll have to remove the skates (which damaged them) and the four screws underneath to get them into the mouse, so these screws are not visible for easy swapping of parts.

On the back of the mouse, there’s also a pull-out drawer where you can store a USB dongle for 2.4 GHz “lightspeed” wireless connectivity. When the dongle is stored in the drawer, there is a very noticeable rattling sound when you move the mouse, because the dongle is not properly seated in the drawer.

Performance

The best gaming mice have enough buttons to map all your most vital actions, and they position the buttons for easy access during games. There are five primary buttons on the G303 Shroud, and also a clickable scroll wheel. By default, the side button functions as a back and forward button, but you can assign it in the Logitech software (more on that later). The buttons below the scroll wheel control DPI by default (instead of adjusting between continuous scrolling and ratchet scrolling like on some other Logitech mice), and there’s no defined thumb rest. The ratcheted scroll wheel consists of an internal metal rod configuration, so it feels quite prominent.

During testing, I found the wireless range to be around 30 feet, and I haven’t had to recharge the battery after a few week of testing. The published battery life is 140 hours, and that seems pretty accurate considering I still had about 50% battery left after turning the mouse on and off, surfing the web, programming buttons, and fiddling with it for a week. You can also get two and a half hours or more of use if you plug it in for five minutes, thanks to USB-C fast charging.

The point

Overall, I appreciated the low latency, accuracy, battery life, and aesthetics at first glance this unit has, so it has a lot to offer. I just wish it had a more universal shape that wasn’t uniquely made for the hands of a collaborator, as well as more button configuration options and weights to make it more desirable for each individual gamer. If you’re a gamer who prefers a very lightweight, rechargeable mouse with combo grip/fingertip grip, you might really like the G303 Shroud Edition. But if you prefer palm grip, thumb rest, weight adjustment, or a few buttons, this isn’t the mouse for you. Instead, consider the Razer Basilisk V3 or the MSI Clutch GM20, both of which have a thumb rest and plenty of customization for people who don’t fit into the Shroud’s mold.
