Logitech G303 Review
Logitech G303 Software Manual and Review – At first glance, the Logitech G303 does not look comfortable. Long, thin, and has some awkward angles. However, once it’s really in your hands, it feels natural & smooth to use.
It’s also not that big, which might be a system shock for anyone accustomed to more massive mouse games. As a consequence of this small size, the best way to hold it is with a half-palm grip, which feels very comfy.
There are six buttons on the mouse, all of which can be reprogrammed. There are left and right clickers, scroll wheels, and small buttons at the top of the mouse that allow you to spin up through tracking sensitivity. Two “backup” buttons are on the left side of the device, where your thumb is. That means this is most appropriate for left-handed users, but other symmetrical designs will also work for left-handed people.
One of the salient features of the Logitech G303 is its impressive sensitivity scale. Users can set the mouse DPI anywhere between 200 and 12,000.
That’s a vast range and covers all bases when it comes to gaming and playing styles. Of course, play at 12,000 DPI is ridiculous (anything in the north of 5,000 is hard to master), but this is an excellent addition to a simple mouse.
In contrast, Chroma Razer DeathAdder closes at 10,000 DPI. A standard office mouse will run somewhere under 1,600 DPI.
The polling rate, that’s how many times your computer pings your mouse per second – on the G303 reaches 1,000Hz. You only need 500Hz, so it’s only worth sticking to the top end of your rig has a good processor. That stated, if you can handle 1,000Hz, you will see a reliable response from an agile mouse.
For starters, you can save up to three different profiles in the G303’s on-board memory. You can modify this profile with various lighting and DPI settings, polling levels, and button binding.
This software also allows you to choose what level you want via the G303 DPI-switcher button, and how sensitive you want each level to be. Also, there are four polling level settings available – 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, and 1,000Hz.
The most prominent thing about Logitech G303 is that it tracks very well. That’s thanks to the leading PMW3366 sensor in the class that it uses to detect motion.
It is very accurate. When you use the G303, it feels like an extension of your hand.
So what kind of game works well for Logitech G303? We found it worked well on shooters, thanks in large part to impressive tracking. When you try to hit a target quickly with accuracy, having a high-level sensor under your mouse is a significant advantage.
There is also a minor error in the G303, with only a few buttons and a lightweight body, making it perfect for twitch games. The fact that you can increase your DPI to large numbers is also useful in that regard. We think the same is true for League of Legends, Dota 2, and other MOBA titles.
If you only play RPG, MMORPG, or RTS titles, and seriously, you might want to look elsewhere. Although, of course, it’s reliable, there aren’t enough buttons that can be reprogrammed to make the G303 worth your while. You better look for Razer Naga or Roccat Nyth. We tried the G303 with WoW and, while reliable tracking was useful, it felt like we didn’t maximize our performance like we could with a more flexible mouse.
Is it Worth it?
Not surprisingly, Logitech won reliability with the G303. That is not the most striking mouse and certainly doesn’t pack most of the features, but it is well made and easy to handle.
At £ 50 it’s a bit expensive, though it’s still cheaper than its £ 65 rival, Razer DeathAdder Chroma. Ordinary wired gaming mice are generally affordable today, with typical entry prices under £ 40. However, Logitech always appears to offer high-performance devices, & the G303 is no exception.
What’s also important to remember is that minimalist design means being easy to get along with when you don’t play games. If you only surf on the computer or work in an office, the G303 will work for you.
Better alternatives for MMO gamers, Sculpted sound signature, not for purists
Exceptional tracking, Powerful audio performance with a rich bass response and well-defined highs
Logitech G303 can be pricy, but you get what you pay for – a high-performance, high-performance mouse that won’t let you down.
