Logitech G502 X Gaming Mouse Review
Logitech G502 X Gaming Mouse Review, Driver, Manual and Software – All mice have a common redesign, with a smaller corner, as well as a toggled DPI shift key that you can flip/remove if you don’t need it or if it irritates your thumb. The lighter wheels allow it to scroll faster in Hyperfast mode (unlimited spins), and the lighter construction reduces the weight significantly.
Design
The new left and right mouse buttons combine a hybrid switch, which Logitech has branded the Lightforce, with optical drive for speed and durability, and physical electrical contacts to provide tactile touch to mechanical switches.
A more practical upgrade is the reworked DPI clutch, which (by default) lowers sensitivity for more precise movement when held. Rather than keeping it as a fixed button, the G502 X has a detachable L-shaped lid: insert it with the extended side facing you, and it’s easier to reach with your thumb.
Flip it over so it’s facing sideways, and the buttons are still there if you need them, but less likely to accidentally brush them off. Or, if you don’t need the coupling (and don’t want to reprogram it to do something different, as you can with 11 inputs), you can simply replace the cap with a plain cover to effectively disable it.
Features
In-game performance is impeccable, as expected as this mouse uses the same Logitech 25K sensor as the G502 Hero, and there are other tweaks that (again, mostly) make it a bit more comfortable and satisfying to hold under your finger. Chief among these is the new optical-mechanical switch design: I can’t honestly say it makes left/right clicks noticeably faster than those on the older G502 variant, as is usually the reason given for optical switch technology. , but somehow they feel sturdier and smoother.

Honestly, the G502 X would be a great example of upgrading on the classic, if it weren’t for one other change: the scroll wheel. I hate it. In particular I despise the scratchy, crunchy, and overly resistant feel it has in ratcheted mode, where excessive devotion to tactility has made the wheels uncomfortable to use and too hard.
This little plastic hoop – with sincere regret – was enough to ruin the G502 X for me, despite its many and varied successes elsewhere. Yes, if you can live with a clacky scroll wheel then you’ll find plenty to like beyond that, and £70/$80 isn’t an unfair request for a modern, well-equipped gaming mouse. But mine will come back into its box strong and stay there, no matter how many surveys it takes.
