Logitech G533 Review

The Design

Okay, maybe keep using the air traffic control silhouette – the G533 is a little slimmer than its siblings but not too much. That looks professional. I’m not sure the picture does the G533 justice because so much of its appeal lies in the details, The way the headband curves around the earplugs. Or the tiny grooves that are slipped back by the microphone. G533 grows on me a little more every day, with new subtleties revealed even after being used for weeks.

It is the best Logitech headset has ever seen, I guess. Not that I object to the G633 / 933 pair – they have a certain y-space appeal, and I like hidden microphones. The G533 microphone is wise for gaming headsets but not as fully shielded as the G633.

But the smooth curves of the G533, matte, and piano black ways complement each other, round ears – this doesn’t look like Logitech I used to be. Razer, maybe, or a more general audio company like Audio-Technica or Sennheiser. But for Logitech, the G533 is a big step forward aesthetically.

The only thing I’m not happy about is that Logitech continues to use itchy mesh for all of its headsets. I prefer faux leather fans, willing to suffer more heat for softer material, but that’s a minor complaint, and Logitech is hardly alone in using the mesh. Something to watch out. (Hopefully, the microfiber ear cushions added to the G433 make their way to the G533, even as an optional addition.)

Performance

Logitech raised my expectations by positioning the G533 as a simplified version of the G633 / G933, but using the same driver – the implication was similar audio quality. Drivers are only one factor in headset sound, and after A / B carefully tested the G533 & G933, I think the latest has a slight edge.

Most people will want to increase the presence of bass, and as with the G933. I recommend using the still-called Drop the Bass EQ settings in the Logitech software, then make a few adjustments according to taste. That will get you closest to the configurations most people want to play, adding a little more punch to the mix.

Was this successful? Once again, I was forced to test the G533 against the G933, because they both used the same microphone design aside from the new pop filter. And yes, the G533 does reduce some of the plosives – the big bursts of air you sometimes get from the “B” and “P” sounds. In other words, it works well.

This is somewhat interesting. The G533 microphone is still not good enough, so you want to, say, record a podcast on it. And I don’t think your teammates will notice the lack of plosiveness. Some competitors sound as good as the G533 (or better) without the need (or draw attention) of miniature pop filters. That is an improvement for Logitech, but not necessarily a broad industrial revolution in its making.

The Point

If you like a wireless headset for your PC? G533 is my new entry recommendation. What’s lacking in audio versus the G933 is more than being made for a lower and more comfortable price, plus its sleek appearance. Arctic 7 is a bit more difficult to dismiss – even more comfortable than the G533, but I think the better audio of the G533 gives you an edge.

The Bad

The Logitech G533 doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack, and the design is too gaming for not onto gaming people.

The Good

The Logitech G533 has unblockable wireless, all-around quality, configurable key for the PC user, and Replaceable battery.

The Conclusion

Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G533 is recommended for gamers who play FPS or shooting games, as it’s can projecting the environment via 7.1 channel sound. And also cool features, and long battery life and also replaceable battery.
