Logitech M720 Driver and Software  –  Mouse Triathlon M720 has a comfortable design and is packed with no less than eight buttons. And a medium-sized mouse; those who have big or small hands must find it as a satisfying middle ground.

Design

It feels comfortable to use with our small, right hand, although the curve is clear enough that we must pay attention to support our wrists properly. We especially like how the bent and textured thumb rests provide a comfortable place for the thumb to sit while using the mouse. The point is also functional: At the top, there are a row of three function keys, each for forward, back and switch-and-connect.

The installation process is easy. Pull the tab down so that the battery will be seen, remove the battery cover to take the dongle, jack in the dongle to the USB port, and you are inactive. Logitech said the batteries could last up to 24 months. The power button at the bottom will help save battery life, such as the ability of the mouse to automatically enter sleep mode if detected as not being used.

However, we find it strange that Logitech’s brief setup guide does not mention button behavior. Indeed, Logitech uses conciseness and minimalism by printing steps on the back of cardboard inserts that are part of the blister-pack packaging. But for this mouse in particular, with extra complexity, we must have more details on our faces when unpacking the mouse. The Logitech Options software allows you to change configuration and program buttons. You can swap the left and right buttons, change the pointer speed, and adjust the direction of the scroll wheel. Setting the speed of the scroll wheel does not dispel our feeling that the “too fast” wheel is a color that is too slick. However, we feel that the tilt/left/ right movement of the scroll wheel is proper, without obstacles.

We also like the feeling of “clicking” those buttons: buttery-smooth. As we mentioned before, the main button requires our full finger length to press, a design point that is always more finger-friendly and helps prevent finger fatigue.

The Point

Logitech M720 Triathlon Mouse is ready for use on many devices. As such, this is a good choice for cross-platform users or buyers who have two or three system desktop systems on their desks and want to have only one set of input devices. Working closely with the K780, it makes a clean solution to that scenario. You only want to proceed with caution if your multi-device package includes an iOS gadget.

The Bad > Scroll wheel is a bit over-sensitive, “Multi-device” support limited to computer operating systems and recent Android, not iOS.

The Good > Comfortable shape, Sturdy design, Easy-access dongle storage.
