Logitech MX Master Wireless Mouse Review, Driver, Manual and Software – This mouse not designed for left-handed use, but for those who are right-handed, it is very comfortable and perfectly shaped so that your hands only rest on it without having to hold it at all. It’s denser than a standard mouse cable at 145g, but we never felt this was a burden. The only change we will make is a dark brown metal accent, which is a bit tedious for our tastes. Connectivity
The MX Master is equipped with low-power Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to laptops, tablets, and even smartphones. It also comes with a small USB receiver for desktop PCs and other devices without Bluetooth built-in.
MX Master can be paired with three devices at the same time: All you have to do is press the 1/2/3 button at the bottom of the mouse to change which machine you want to control. If you have several computers on your desks – such as laptops and desktops – you can have one mouse for both, by switching between them practically instantly (aside from the slightly awkward action of turning the mouse). It is an exclusive feature, but multi-device multitasking will love it.
It cannot be connected via a cable, but a non-removable battery charged via Micro USB. Logitech claimed battery life is 40 days, and at the end of the week eight hours, the battery is still full 4/5.
Button
There are seven regular buttons on the MX Master, with all but the left and right buttons being configured using the Logitech Options software. In addition to the regular left, right, and center clicks, there is a fourth button on the top of the mouse, which, by default, switches between ratchet scrolling and freewheel scrolling.
The two buttons beside are assigned to go forward and backward by default, to navigate between pages quickly. They placed one above the other, but thanks to the sharp and prominent design, they are easy to hit, and you will not be confused between the two after a few minutes of use. Finally, there is a button that is placed right where your thumb is, although we found the action to be a bit too hard, not easy to press like the rest of the buttons.
The default setting in Windows is to show the Windows default Alt + tab application, switcher. On Mac OS X, it handles desktop switching, Mission Control, and App Expose, as long as you have installed Logitech Options.
Scroll wheel
Unusually, Master MX has two scroll wheels: one in the standard position above the mouse, and the thumb scroller on the right. The top scroll wheel has ratchet scroll and freewheeling modes. You are not limited to one at a time, though: throw a scroll wheel with enough force, and the ratchet will be released, allowing the scroll wheel to spin freely.
That works well in large documents, email inboxes and on busy social networks, when you want to scroll somewhere quickly, but aren’t sure where you want to stop. You can set the sensitivity of this option – called SmartShift – in the Options software.
The thumb scroller is most useful for extensive spreadsheets, scrolling sideways conventionally. You can set it to handle other actions such as back and forth in a web browser, change the volume, or switch applications as well.
Laser
The MX Master uses the Darkfield Laser sensor, which means it can be used even on glass tables. This mouse has a maximum dpi of 1600, which should be enough for the fewest workers, but the sensitivity can be reduced in an increase of 200dpi through Option software if you prefer greater accuracy.
The Point
Master Logitech MX is one of the best pure computer mice we’ve ever used. With a flexible and configurable design, perfect ergonomics (at least for right-handed users), and precision engineering, we find it hard to suggest a better mouse get things done. That’s expensive, yes, and the absence of any cable options can delay gamers after the fastest response time, and there is no input lag. Still, the increased productivity and comfort it provides is comparable.
